February, 2012

In the year 2012 we collected a total amount of Rs. 352,701/- from various parties to help finance the treatment of all the children & teachers screened. We thank them for their generous contributions.

JCBF & ACT undertook a project to look after the eye-health of children attending National Child Labour Project (NCLP) funded School in Faridabad, Haryana. 65 children and teachers were screened and treatment in the form of spectacles, eye drops and vitamins for 15 children and teachers was funded by JCBF.

March, 2012

As part of World Optometry week, JCBF held a programme on‘Eye Health & Nutrition'. A group of 100 senior citizens and college students were present at Vallabh Vidyanagar in Gujarat.

Discussions were held on the importance of regular check–up at the Eye Clinic.

JCBF Trustee Jyoti Dave-Singh gave free lectures at Optometry institutions as part of World Optometry week at Amity Medical College, Amity University, Haryana.

The JCBF – HR College project 2012-2013 begins. 26 HR College Mumbai students participated to do community service so that the eye-health of Seva Sadan Primary & Secondary schools’ children continue to be looked after from previous years. Two Schools run by Akanksha Foundation at Shindewadi & Kalachowki in Mumbai were adopted.

JCBF-HR College - Phase 1: HR college student Group 1 and Group 3 screening at Seva Sadan Secondary School, Mumbai.

A total of 912 children and teachers were screened.360 Children and teachers will be transported to Primary Eye Centre,Bombay City Eye Hospital at Chowpatty, and Lotus Eye Hospital at Juhu for further treatment in Phase II. Next year in Phase II, the children will receive treatment in form of spectacles, eye drops & vitamins and surgery.
